Hello Golfers,

Lee Westwood was the toast of Abu Dhabi with a two-shot victory at the HSBC Championship. The popular Englishman was in contention from round one but put the hammer down on Saturday with a 7-under 65.

He backed that up on Sunday with a five-under 67 to win by two on -19 from Matthew Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood, and Victor Perez. The win also marked the fourth decade in which Westwood has won on Tour – now that’s consistency at its best!

Layer up

Last week we talked about one of our favourite topics: rain! Whilst waterproof protection is key for staying dry when caught in a downpour, combining layers of clothing underneath is vital if you want to enjoy the warmth without being so restricted that you can’t complete your backswing.

What do we mean by layering?

Lots of golfers are still in the habit of putting on as many layers as they possibly can in the winter to combat the cold – a vest, turtleneck, polo, sweater and jacket – but today’s golf clothing could easily cut that down by half.

What do we suggest?

From polos that keep you at a cool temperature in the summer to thermal mid-layers like the one pictured above by FootJoy, having the right piece of clothing can do the job of several poor layers. Pop by the shop to have a look at our clothing collections.
