The recent Distance Insight Report from the R&A and USGA asserted that continued distance gains (especially among the professional game) is hurting golf. With that in mind, it was a pleasure to see at the Arnold Palmer Invitational only four players ended under par with Tyrrell Hatton becoming the first Englishman to record victory at Bay Hill despite a nervy finish.

If you want to keep the dreaded hooks and slices at bay, hitting the ball with a square clubface is one part of the answer. It’s easier said than done we know, but we have come up with a couple of handy tips that will help your cause.

Squaring the clubface begins with consistency in our hand placement on the grip. If you can get your fundamentals right on every shot, you’ll give yourself the best chance of hitting the shot you want to.
